Logan's Kindergarten Grad

Logan is officially done KINDERGARTEN! They missed a couple of days of school at the end, due to the flooding, but thankfully we were still able to get together one evening to celebrate their graduation.

Can you tell Logan was THRILLED to be there??

Logan's class on the left and the other class on the right, preformed several songs and poems for the parents.

Again, Logan was THRILLED to be there and receive his diploma. We were such proud parents.

Once again, a belated birthday..

Man! Am I ever bad at keeping this blog current lately!! Thank you to everyone for reminding me and encouraging me to update, otherwise it may never happen!

Katie had a birthday. A long time ago already. I'm a bad mom. She was very, very excited to turn four. Katie is very, very big into Disney Princesses right now. She is ALWAYS running around the house in either a Rapunzel dress, Sleeping Beauty Dress, Merida (Brave) dress or her newly acquired Belle dress. She cries often because I refuse to let her leave the house in them. She also sobs her eyes out every time Logan decides to tease her by telling her she's not a real princess.

The week of her birthday she decided that Ariel was her favorite that week. So she insisted on having an Ariel cake for her birthday. She also insisted that she get to eat Ariel's boobies. She's an odd child. Cute, but odd :)

Picnic

Mark took this week off of work. We've been taking advantage of the warm weather and try to be outside as much as possible. On Monday we took the kids to Edworthy for a picnic. The weather was beautiful. We roasted hot dogs, tossed a baseball around and splashed in the river.

Katie definitely came home with a sunburn that afternoon... but that pastey child needed some color.

We tried to do a whole family selfie... couldn't quite get it right.

What was I thinking?

What was I thinking when I promised my kids I'd take them to the zoo today? I was probably thinking "It's spring!" And while it technically is spring, it sure didn't feel like it this morning! We froze our bottoms off at the zoo this morning! Mittens, toques and ski jackets and we were still Popsicles by the time we left. But, despite the frozen runny noses, we had a LOT of fun (if you ignore the end - when Katie was whining about sore legs, Carson kept losing his mittens and Logan wouldn't stop campaigning to stop and buy lunch).

The good part about it being so cold was that there was hardly anyone else there. We got to spend a lot of time inside watching the penguins. Carson was scared at first and started to cry when one swam up to the glass. He wasn't overly impressed.

We also spent a looooong time watching the hippos swim (mainly because it was so nice and warm in "Africa"!!)

Carson really perked up when we went out to see the Lions. He kept roaring in the stroller. The lions were actually AWAKE and playing! One was batting a ball around right infront of us.

My camera lens kept fogging up inside the gorrila house, so we couldn't get any pictures of the funny gorilla frunning around with a burlap sack stuck over his head.

Carson also seemed to enjoy the elephants (but he might have really just been enjoying the heated buidling). By this point everyone was getting a little fed up with mom always making them pose for pictures.

The next time we go to the zoo, it'll be a WHOLE lot warmer!!

Hitmen Awards Banquet

Back in December the Hitmen were sorting all the teddy bears they collected from the Teddy Bear Toss game at the Petro Canada near our house. My mom thought she would take Logan there to meet them all and get autographs and pictures with them. Unfortunately when they got there they had just missed the players by 10 minutes. Logan was crushed. One of the organizers saw how sad he was and told Logan that she would give our email address to his favorite player (Alex Roach) and try to have him send us a little note. But weeks went by and we never heard anything from anyone, so we assumed she must have forgotten about Logan.

However, that wasn't the case! A couple weeks ago my mom got an email from the organizer saying she remembered meeting Logan and how disappointed he had been when he did not get to meet Alex Roach. She then invited them to be her special guests at the Hitmen Awards Banquet. Logan was so excited and counted down the sleeps until it was time for the big day.

Yesterday we dressed him up in his fanciest clothes and off they went to the Fairmont Palliser for lunch. Wendy (the organizer who invited them) had prearranged for Logan to have his picture taken with a few of his favorite players and to have them autograph his 2012-2013 Hitmen Yearbook.

(Victor Rask, Logan, Alex Roach)

(A funny story about Logan and Alex Roach... the morning Carson was born Logan went into preschool all excited to tell his class and teacher and announced "I have a new baby brother! His name is Roach!" He was quite disappointed when we told him we did not infact name Carson - Roach.)

(Austin Calladine and Logan)

(Logan likes Austin because he actually billets with Logan's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Williams. A couple of weeks ago Austin broke his nose in a game so Logan made him a get better card. Upon meeting Logan for the first time yesterday Austin said "Oh, you're the guy who made me the card!")

So Logan had his 3 favorite players' autographs and was super happy. But the cherry on top was when Kelly Kisio (the Hitmen's general manager) came over and introduced himself to Logan. Logan eagerly showed him the autographs he had got. Mr Kisio then took Logan by the hand and said "Well, lets go get the rest of the players to sign your book then!" And off the two of them went! He took Logan around the entire room until they had met all the Hitmen but 4!

Logan came home overflowing with stories of who got what award and all the yummy food he ate (he ranted and raved about the giant plate of prime rib he ate.. I think I saw Mark turn green with envy and drool a little). What a lucky, spoiled little boy we have!

Happy 1st Birthday Carson!

I tried posting pictures from Carson's birthday a long time ago, but had such a hard time uploading the photos that I got frustrated and gave up. But, better late than never...

Carson turned 1 on December 22nd. Poor kid. With all the excitement of Christmas and the busyness of me going back to work full time we nearly forgot all about his birthday. Good thing he is only 1 and will never remember! I promise to do better next year!

We had Vanderveen Christmas that evening so we decided to bring a long birthday cake. He was pretty timid at first about putting his fingers into the cake, but once he got going poor Aunt Laura had chocolate cake all over her house!

At 1 years old Carson is starting to become a little bit of an easier child. He is sleeping through the night 6/7 nights a week (he still has the odd night where he wakes up crying and needs a sip of milk). He is fine being left with a babysitter - provided his brother and sister are there. He is standing and walking around furniture (it will still be a couple of months until we're walking unassisted), He is a very funny, goofy and DROOLY child!

Our Old, New House

I randomly came across these pictures on my computer. I didn't even know I still had them! They are pictures from MLS of our house when we first bought it. A lot of you never got a chance to see our house before we moved in. So you've probably been wondering why a lot of our projects are half done and why our house is the way it is. So here is a look at how it looked when we first bought it, and you will see how far we have come!! (Sorry the pictures are so small).

Kitchen

My favorite part of the kitchen was the floor. It was this lovely brown lino with a random square of parkay flooring right smack dab in the middle. The counter tops were in rough shape with scratches everywhere and the walls were pee yellow. It also had a retro globe light hanging over the kitchen table that I swear I smacked my head on 10 times before I finally gave up and took it down.

This is the other side of the kitchen. This wall was COVERED in holes from pictures. We ripped the wall out and converted it to an island with more cabinets and counter space.

Dining Room

Again, I don't know how ANY of these walls are still standing. There were so many nail holes in them. We often joked it would have been easier to hang new drywall than fill and sand all the nail holes. The light again was just BEAUTIFUL and the carpet would have been wonderful to keep under the table to soak up any food spills.

Living Room

Pretty much the only thing I liked about the living room was the bay window. The pink walls and carpet all went.

Our Room

Besides the cat pee filled carpet, and crummy paint color, our room wasn't too bad. I love how big it is and our GIGANTIC closet! (Although we still want to do a built in on one side.) I love, love, love having an ensuite with our own shower. Also, the ensuite has a window that opens, so on hot days we can open that window and the one by the bed and get an awesome breeze going!

Carson's Room

It took several coats of paint and primer to cover up this green paint! Logan had this room first, but it is now Carson's. It's super tiny!

Katie and Logan's Room

When Logan saw this picture he asked if we could paint the walls blue again. But I'm a mean boring mom and told them all the walls in the house had to match and be the same color.

10.5 Months

During my unmotivated absence from blogging I missed Carson's 9 month post. But now my little Justin Bieber wanna be is now ten and a half months old. He is FINALLY sleeping through the night (hallelujah!) and semi-crawling (he army crawls so fast but just cant seem to get the grasp of actual crawling). He is getting soooo big! He hardly seems like a baby anymore!

Especially with the hair cut he got today!! Bye bye Justin Bieber!
